UNICEF is urgently appealing for emergency assistance to aid the victims of the devastating earthquake that rocked the Caribbean nation of Haiti on 12 January. Thousands of children have been killed or injured. Those who survived the disaster are now in temporary shelters, hospitals or on the streets. They have little access to food or water and are at increased risk of violence and abuse.
